International Women’s Day <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world on March\n8 every year. It began as a campaign for better working conditions by women in\nNew York at the turn of the 20th century. The first official IWD was on\nFebruary 28, 1909. No one knows for sure why the date changed to March 8, but\nthis is the date when thousands of women started annual marches in New York\u2019s\nstreets. The first international women\u2019s conference took place in 1910, in\nDenmark. Since then, IWD has spread around the world. It is an important day to\nhighlight the economic, political and social contributions women have made to\nour world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

IWD is an official holiday in many countries, including Algeria, China,\nCuba, Italy, Poland, Vietnam, and Zambia. All across the world, men give\nflowers and other gifts to the women in their lives – mothers, wives,\ngirlfriends, sisters, teachers, etc. In Portugal and Romania, women celebrate\nby having “women-only” dinners. IWD is a big event in India, where\npeople hold celebrations throughout the day. Indian men want to show how\nimportant women are to their society. All around the world women are becoming\nmore powerful in business, entertainment, politics and other areas. There are\nover a dozen nations today with women leaders. However, IWD is still necessary\nto highlight the inequality millions of women still face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadie sabe con certeza porqu\u00e9 cambi\u00f3 la fecha al 8 de marzo,\nsin embargo, \u00e9sta es la fecha cuando miles de mujeres comenzaron a marchar\nanualmente en las calles de Nueva York. La primera \u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026… se\nllev\u00f3 a cabo en 1910 en Dinamarca. Desde ese entonces, el IWD<\/em> se ha extendido en todo el mundo. Es un d\u00eda importante\npara\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.. que las mujeres han hecho al mundo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
